Professional development
As part of our professional development we invite internationally renowned guest speakers to teach and train our BCBAs in areas related to cutting edge research in the field of ABA.
We also invite speakers who can share a different perspective, ensuring that our BCBAs embrace and understand Autism with a training that is educated, forward thinking and holistic.
Dr. Greg Hanley
Ph.D., BCBA-D, LABA
Dr. Greg Hanley and other progressive behavior analysts have encouraged a move toward forward-thinking ABA practices. One key feature of today’s ABA is the concept of a child being happy, relaxed, and engaged before teaching them skills or focusing on behavior reduction.
Dr. Greg Hanley met with the 2020 Behavior team in September 2023 and again in January 2024 to train our BCBAs on Practical Functional Skills Based Treatment and Feeding/Treating Food Selectivity Without Tears.
We encourage everyone to read Dr. Hanley’s perspective on today’s ABA.
Dr. Hanley is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Div. 25), past Associate Editor of The Behavior Analyst, and past Editor of Behavior Analysis in Practice and of the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. He has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters primarily focused on the assessment, treatment, and prevention of problem behavior and sleep problems, teaching strategies for developing life skills, and empirically-derived values for practitioners.
Dr. Hanley currently advises doctoral candidates as a Research Professor at WNEU, serves as an Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and leads FTF Behavioral, the international training and consulting group based in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Linda A. LeBlanc
Ph.D., BCBA-D, Licensed Psychologist
Linda A. LeBlanc, Ph.D., BCBA-D, Licensed Psychologist is the President of LeBlanc Behavioral Consulting and the past Editor in Chief of the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Dr. Linda LeBlanc was a guest speaker in March 2023 and spoke on the topic of Clinical Decision Making.
Linda A. LeBlanc, Ph.D., BCBA-D, licensed psychologist, is the president of LeBlanc Behavioral Consulting. She previously served as a professor at Claremont McKenna College, Western Michigan University, and Auburn University and as the executive director of Trumpet Behavioral Health. She has published more than 100 articles and book chapters on topics such as behavioral treatment of autism, technology-based behavioral interventions, behavioral gerontology, and systems development in human services. Dr. LeBlanc is an associate editor of Behavior Analysis in Practice and the literature review editor of Education and Treatment of Children. She has previously served as an associate editor of The Analysis of Verbal Behavior and the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. She is the 2016 recipient of the American Psychological Association Nathan H. Azrin Award for Distinguished Contribution in Applied Behavior Analysis.
Ashley Rose

Ashley Rose, BCBA is Director at Mission Cognition, LLC, in New York. 2020 Behavior utilizes the Mission Cognition curriculum for our South Bay social skills groups.
Ashley Rose chatted with our BCBAs twice in 2022 regarding trauma informed, developmentally appropriate, neurodiversity affirming practices pertaining to the growth of play and social behaviors.
Dr. Damon Korb, M.D

Dr. Damon Korb, M.D. is Clinic Director & Founder of Center for Developing Minds in Los Gatos, CA. Dr. Korb is a Behavioral & Developmental Pediatrician, F.A.A.P.
Dr. Korb spoke to our BCBAs in 2022 about ADHD and ASD
Damon Korb, M.D., a board-certified behavioral and developmental pediatrician, examines the neurodevelopmental brain functions that determine how a child learns, behaves and socializes. As the clinic director for the Center for Developing Minds, he guides a team of child development experts that care for children and young adults who are struggling. With the recent publication of his award-winning book, Raising an Organized Child, Dr. Korb aims to provide parents with an assortment of tools to help their children develop the skills they need to thrive.
Dr. Korb has nearly 30 years of pediatric practice experience, including 25 years focusing on child behavior and development. He is on the Board of Directors for Parents Helping Parents, a past President for the Society of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, and a member of the Adjunct Clinical Faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Korb is a frequent speaker, having lectured to parents and professionals on a wide range of neurodevelopmental topics, and has provided advice on NPR, the Today Show, and other morning news programs, including stations in the LA, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. areas. He has contributed to articles featured in Parents Magazine, The Washington Post, The New York Times, OprahMag.com and Good Housekeeping.
Tracy Vail

Tracy Vail is a Speech Language Pathologist and former owner of Let’s Talk Speech and Language Services, Inc.
Tracy Vail met with 2020 Behavior in 2020 and 2021 to discuss total communication approaches, transfer trials and increasing vocalizations.
Tracy Vail, M.S., CCC-SLP, Ms. Vail has been working as a speech language pathologist with children with autism since 1982 in a variety of settings, including public schools, private schools, homes, and private practice. She has received postgraduate training in many treatment strategies, including the Social-Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support (SCERTS®), Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Applied Behavior Analysis, Relationship Development Intervention (RDI), Developmental Individual-difference Relationship-based model (DIR)/Floortime, the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM).

Kaila Sugiyama, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Kaila Sugiyama practices as a LMFT at Esther B. Clark School here in the South Bay.
Kaila and her colleague, Lauren Flores, ASW, talked with our BCBAs in Spring 2024 about managing conflict with high needs families, and the importance of collaboration with providers such as LMFTs and LCSWs.
A Bay Area native, Kaila has worked with individuals and their families in the mental health setting for over a decade.
She graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with her bachelor’s in psychology and completed her Master’s degree in counseling psychology at Santa Clara University. Before starting at Esther B. Clark, Kaila worked in various settings including school-based counseling centers, bereavement and hospice counseling, and university health and wellness. She enjoys working collaboratively with her clients and their families to achieve their goals. It is her firm belief that every individual has the potential for growth, change, and success.
Esther B. Clark Schools serve K-10 students with emotional and behavioral challenges. With the expertise of EBC’s program and staff, children with social-emotional challenges re-engage in learning and develop positive skills to transition back to a mainstream school environment.

Lauren and her colleague, Kaila Sugiyama, LMFT, talked with our BCBAs in Spring 2024 about managing conflict with high needs families, and the importance of collaboration with providers such as LMFTs and LCSWs.
Lauren is a licensed clinical social worker, that has a passion for working with youth. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in both psychology and sociology in 2013 from UC Santa Cruz and with her Master’s in social work from San Jose State University in 2020.
Lauren has worked in the mental health field since 2012 in a variety of settings including residential board and care homes, community-based outpatient clinics, and with youth, young adults, and adults. Lauren loves using a creative approach to her work and enjoys art, going out into nature, and doing DIY projects as part of her therapeutic interventions.
Lauren believes in empowering children and families to share their stories and work on personal goals through building a foundation of trust, hope, and learning about each person’s unique interests and personality.
Gabi Torres, MS, BCBA, IBA
Founder of Find Your Balance LLC
Gabi Torres is the founder of Find Your Balance LLC, an organization whose mission is to support the professional development of culturally responsive practitioners and to remove barriers and increase equity and access in the field of behavior analysis.
Gabi led a workshop on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in May 2024 focused on using ACT to become more responsive and effective behavior analysts.
Gabi Torres, MS, BCBA, IBA, is the founder of Find Your Balance LLC an organization whose mission is to support the professional development of culturally responsive practitioners and to remove barriers and increase equity and access in the field of behavior analysis.
Gabi, who is originally from the island of Curacao, is also a founding board member of Autism Aid Foundation Curacao, and of the Caribbean Association for Behaviour Analysis (CABA). She currently works in more than 20 different countries focusing on mentoring new behavior analysts and clinical leaders, providing low cost supervision for BACB and IBAO trainees, and providing high quality IBAO courses and CEUS. Her areas of interest include verbal behavior, acceptance and commitment training, cultural responsiveness and organizational behavior management.
